Russian Orphans April 11, 2008 My heart has been heavy today for all the orphans of the world. As I have been reading about Russia I have been so disturbed. Each year 15,000 orphans leave the institutions by age 16-18 years old. Of these, 5,000 are unemployed,some 6,000 are homeless,around 3,000 resort to crime approximately 1,500 commit suicide and roughly half the girls are forced into prositution. This should not be. I know that we are so sheltered in our little worlds . It makes me feel so small when I think of all the really dumb things I worry about. I realize how selfish I am and wonder how I will answer to God about the years I have done nothing to help those that are needy even in my own city. I think a lot of times when I have felt sad, unfullfilled or frustrated this could be solved by helping others, even in my own family. I am asking God to make me more sensetive to the needs of others and then to actually do something about it!!!!!!James 1:27 hit me in the stomach. Even Jesus said you can talk all day long about your faith but true faith without action is dead. I realize I need to wake up.edit
